OKAY. i know this is a stretch but has anyone converted one or more of their cap windows into opening doors/ windoors like work trucks have? this way you can get to things in the front of the cap without crawling in over everything. i have made a very poorly done photo shop of this concept and I think i know how best to do it but just wanted to know if anyone else has attempted it before I start designing something!

I have never seen it done but have discussed it a few times. I think it could be feasible to do but I also think it would be more beneficial to do it to the front, side windows. It would be smaller but that is the area that I have the most difficult time getting to. I have the small Wildernest and stuff by the rear, side window is pretty accessible. It appears you have a full size Wildernest and being able to open the rear, side window may be more useful for you.

I would guess the best place to start would be find some replacement windows, and build them into the frame. Guessing it could be done, but I wouldn’t try and do it with only one pair of frames.
I have a couple of side windows for a smaller wildernest. Let me know if I can help.

I want to do this this year and I'm looking for a dealer who can get me more details on the "side-vent" Windoor sliders from StarQuest / Lippert Industries. I've been doing research into these and they look to be the closest radiused fit to the factory Wildernest windows. I'll try to remember to post here when I get the information I'm looking for. www.lci1.com/truck-cap-windows

I think i have it figured out how to make doors with no window in them but I am a little hesitant to just go chopping at my top until i figure it out a little better!

Yes! Please do! I think i have it figured out how to make doors with no window in them but I am a little hesitant to just go chopping at my top until i figure it out a little better! FWIW I reached out to them and got some phone numbers for folks in their sales department to try. I'll let you know what I can figure out. I'm guessing all of the 6 foot Wildernest side windows are the same (model I have) so hopefully I can find a model # that fits and get details on how to order them. I'd need help with someone with a full-size 'nest on what size that window is.

I have talked to several manufacturers at this point, and the style of window used in the Wildernest -- radiused on two corners, mitered on the other two, are no longer in production. I have a feeling the only way to make this upgrade is to modify the fiberglass to accept a different window style, or find someone willing to manufacture a small run of custom windows. I'm continuing to work the problem and will update folks if I find a solution.
