Hi Everyone,
I’m relatively new to this forum and come here seeking advice from anyone who can help me out. After searching for quite a while for either a Flip-Pac or Wildernest for my Tacoma, I finally came across a Wildernest Camper. I probably paid more than I should have for it, but they’re really hard to come by in my neck of the woods (New York City area) so I just couldn’t let it get away not knowing if or when I’d find another one. Anyway, long story short, It needs work. The tent is dirty, has some mold, rips, etc. and the frame has quite a bit of rust on it. I think the best approach at this point would be to completely remove the tent from the frame and go from there. So basically I’d like to know if anyone out there has experience completely removing and re-installing the tent from the frame? If so, how difficult of a process is it? Also, was your Wildernest mounted on or off your truck when you did so? Please any info you guys can pass along to me about this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Jim

Hi Jim. I've done it. both on and off the truck. it's significantly easier on the truck than off. if you've got a cordless screwgun it's pretty easy. the biggest struggle i had was putting it somewhere after I had taken it off the frame. I washed mine hanging from a line i hung between two poles and it worked pretty well. couldnt' really get my mildew stains out even though I used a lot of different chemicals. there's still black along my walls. be super careful. I ended up scrubbing some of the waterproofing off

Sorry about the quote there, I’m new to the forum. I removed my tent a while back for cleaning and now that I’m trying to install it Im having a hell of a time getting it to fit. Has anyone else had trouble with the tent shrinking after removal? Any tips for the install would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Yeah. It’s a little bit of a challenge some times. Ya gotta start on the shell side in the middle and stretch as you go to the bed side. Mine ended up tight especially around the transition between the shell and bed area. I also propped up the bed a little which can make it easier to attach the bed side.
