Hi all. Just got a 6' nest in pretty good shape and will be restoring and making some upgrades. Gave her a good cleaning, which wiped out most of the funky tent smell, and will be replacing the hardware with stainless steel when I can find it. More pics to follow, and any advise from you guys would be greatly appreciated. Replaced all hinges with stainless. Seem to be an exact size match, all screw holes line up. Also replaced all screws with #10 stainless with nylox nuts.

Decided to upgrade to a newer Toyota so a paint job and a few more upgrades were in order. After reading many articles on the web about painting fiberglass, I found one where a guy painted a nest with truck bed paint. I decided to go for it, and it worked well! Good cleaning with a green scrubby pad, mineral spirits and two coats of good primer.

Some more new hardware to go with the new paint job. Found these on Amazon, slightly better quality than original. About $12 each. And these from custompickup.com. Near exact replacement, all holes line up. $13 for both pieces.

Dad's bad ass custom skyhook. Giant props to him. Couldn't have done this project without him.

What year is your truck? That thing looks like it fits like a glove! I have a 2009 Ford Ranger and my wildernest hangs off the edge of my bed by about an inch... It makes me crazy

It makes me crazy I'm gonna make some foam blocks that go in the crack in the back where the cap hangs off the bed of my ranger. if I can get a few made up I'll post a how-to on instructables.
