It appears I've snapped the rivets when I opened up my shell the other day. The Hinge also appears to have frozen or rusted to the point that I can't move it by hand. This ever happen to anyone here? When I can I think I'll soak the hinge in breakfree and try and get it moving again. I can try to drill out the broken rivets, but before I do, if anyone has been down this road before I'd like to compare notes before I damage something trying to fix it.

That's funny, I just finished replacing the hinges on mine. They are not rivets. There are bolts on the other side. At least on mine. I put slightly larger hardware on. Drilled it out. There are metal plates in the fiberglass that give support

Thanks for that. They sure look like rivets on the outside of my hinges but I haven't had a change to open it up and look. Did yo find matching hinges? Mine are rusty and if I could replace with a better hinge I may. Where did you find them? Stainless steel by any chance?

Just doing this myself, picked up stainless hinges ($$$) and stainless hardware ($$), because my backmost hinge rusted and broke, looks like original hardware is 10-24ss bolts to not-stainless nyloc-nuts(buried in the fiberglass) through not stainless hinges. also broke one of two big springs that control/dampen the opening/closing of the 'nest, anyone got a good spring fabricator? I replied to another post that simplified things with an email address, if you have any insight into my big spring replacement quandry please email me at: transientjoe@yahoo.com Cheers, Joe
