So, I decided to hand wash my tent with a safe tent wash. It got really clean, but the urethane coating is really bad and peeling after the wash. I want to strip away all of the coating and reseal with aqua seal. Which will probably be a little expensive, but I have already thrown a bit of money on my wildernest trying to get it ready for its new life on the colorado plateau. My question is how can I get the coating off faster. I can work it loose with my hands, but it is taking forever. What is a nylon safe chemical that would work? I think I might try the car wash, and pressure wash the coating off. get back to me, before I go urethane crazy.

Ammonia!
1:1 ratio with water.

Well after a lot of hard work, the coating came off. Resealed with Polycoat from Aqua seal, we will see how it holds up. But the tent looks a thousand times cleaner.
I would have done a few things different next time. Only remove the coating from the sections that need it most. Maybe just machine washed with ammonia instead of doing it all by hand.
If anybody is thinking about doing this, dont hesitate to ask about anything.
