I found a great ‘nest to replace my less than perfect one but have recently come to learn (before I go to pick it up) that it is a different width and may not fit my 2003 Tundra.
Obviously there are 6’ & 8’ versions, but did they really make different widths? I’ve never heard any talk over the years about different widths…
Can anyone confirm varying widths were produced?

I don't know about all the different version of the Wildernest but I do know there are different widths. They also made them for full size pickups.

I know this is old but thought it might be helpful for someone else. It is my understanding that they made 4 sizes of Wildernests: Full size 6’ Full size 8’ Compact 6’ Compact 7’
The full size is wider than the compact. The compact lengths measure out to roughly 6.5’ and 7.5’ but are labeled at 6’ or 7’ typically. Not sure about more precise lengths for full size nests. If any of this is incorrect, let me know. Hope this helps.

I was surprised when you said the compact length for the 6 ft was roughly 6.5 ft because mine sits perfectly on my 6 ft bed. So, I measured mine and it is 6' 4.5" at the base that sits on the bed. Then I realized the 6 ft bed is measured on the interior of the bed and the shell must sit on the exterior dimension. My shell does overhang the rear just a little but that is needed to allow the rear window to seal properly on the tail gate. So, when Wildernest labeled 6 ft or 7 ft, it is for a 6 ft or 7 ft (interior) bed, not the length of the shell.
Actually, the top of the 6 and 7 ft shells are the same length. It is only the bottom that sits on the bed has different lengths.
The outside width of my compact at the rear is just over 5' 1".
