On hinge replacement:
ok I went to ace and just picked a stainless 4" butt hinge. But not all of the hole pattern match. Like on one side they do (well note completely), but not the other.
Is there an issue with drilling new holes and filling in the old holes with fiberglass rosin? It looks pretty thick in the area that holds the lid. Is there something in there besides the fiberglass, or just extra thick fiberglass?
Thanks in advance, Damion

I have been looking for those for a while. No place caries them in town. But where do you find them? I finally found someone that will order then from National Manufacturing. So much for instant gratification. I'm taking back the single ace hinge I bought.
So the N225-953 V514RC's do work with hole pattern matching? Good cause I just ordered 5 of them.
Hard part is I have been running with one of the hinges missing already and just wondering when the rest are going to rust out.

So I ordered the fracking hinges and the hole pattern still doesn't fit!!!! Did they have some stupid proprietary hinge at some point? "oooo, lets make these hinges no one else has, and they'll be planed for obsolescence by rusting and breaking and then everyone will have to come back to us for more hinges." That would have worked if they fracking stayed in business.
The problem is the hole pattern of the original hinges are not mirrored.
I'm just pissed cause I was by the side of the road at the hardware store testing the d**n hinge and got drenched by a truck passing by.

That was the exact National Hinge I ordered. But like I was saying, the hinge I was using did not have a mirrored hole pattern. The national hinges, and any 4x4 hinge you are going to find at just about every hardware store is mirrored. eg when not attached, you close the hinge, its own holes match up on itself. Supposedly the wildernest Manufacture used a different hinge at some point. mcmaster was recommended to me Prime Coat Steel - 1513A52 Polished/Bright Steel - 1513A29 304 Stainless Steel - 1513A59 www.mcmaster.comI just got in the cheep one (was sick of ordering the expensive and it being wrong; will upgrade later), and the hole pattern matched up!! So if anyone else out there experienced this problem, I'd recommend these.
